It is hard for me to believe that it has been three years (and four Worldwide Partner Conferences) since I stepped into the role of Channel Chief at Microsoft. During the course of those years, we’ve watched the IT industry evolve and together we have seized many business opportunities that have enabled us to grow and flourish. I’m proud to have had the responsibility to build an organization and a culture that embraces change and thrives on shaping the future, rather than being shaped by it. Partners have always been fundamental to Microsoft’s business, and you remain the backbone of our business success.
Now the time has come for me to pass the Channel Chief baton on to a new executive, Phil Sorgen, a 17-year veteran of Microsoft who previously led the company’s U.S. SMS&P group.
Throughout my tenure we’ve unveiled new programs, tools, resources and sales incentives to help partners embrace the industry’s transformation to the cloud, and though we still have more work to do, I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made.
Now, I’m excited to welcome Phil as the new corporate vice president of the Worldwide Partner Group (WPG) and wish him much success in leading this important organization. Phil’s extensive experience working with U.S. and Canadian customers and partners will translate well into the role of Channel Chief, and I’m confident that he will continue to grow and diversify our partner ecosystem to meet the ever changing needs of our customers.
The Microsoft Partner Network will continue to evolve, and not only will you be present in its formation, you’ll be responsible for helping to shape and mold it to ensure it continues to meet your needs.
Microsoft is “all-in” in our commitment to the cloud, and I’m confident we’ll continue to grow our businesses together without cutting corners when faced with difficult decisions. We remain committed to working closely with you to successfully take advantage of the shift to the cloud, and we’ll continue to measure our success through your ability to capitalize on the new technological innovations we deliver.
My plan is to return to my roots of product development and take all the great insights I gained from my time with our partners and use them to create even more partner opportunity.
I’ve learned many valuable lessons as Channel Chief during the last three years, but the most important one remains this: “With the right partners, Microsoft can take on any business challenge.”
