Worldwide Partner Conference 2014
A Message to Partners from Phil Sorgen
Phil Sorgen
Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Partner Group
10/8/2013 8:00 AM

In August we announced that Phil Sorgen would be stepping into the role of Channel Chief. A 17-year veteran of Microsoft, Phil previously led Microsoft’s U.S. SMS&P group, and was President of Microsoft Canada prior to that.  His extensive experience working with customers and partners will translate well into the role of Channel Chief. One of the first things Phil wanted to do in his new role was introduce himself to Partners personally. Here’s what he has to say:

02 Nov 2013 - Phil, you should give special look to Africa and developing world. There is great potential in Africa. As an AER I would like to see you giving a presentation in Tanzania to help us and our clients having broader understanding of Microsoft products and services.

22 Oct 2013 - Having had the privilege of meeting and chatting with Phil last week at the Microsoft Enterprise Partner Summit in Cannes, I have to say I am more encouraged about the future of WPG and MPN. IAMCP is playing a big role in helping Partners drive revenue and profitability and we'll be working with Phil and his team closely over the coming months to deliver great initiatives to partners. If you want to know more about Microsoft's vision and direction then engage with your local IAMCP Chapter or contact info@iamcp.org. The next year will be explosive for IAMCP, Microsoft and for partners engaged with Microsoft. You have to be in it to win it ! :-)

21 Oct 2013 - People, stop kiss ups, its getting ridiculous :). There is a lot of work to be done, real work, not a marketing babble peddling Windows 8 and near by failures. Partner site sucks, non-intuitive, confusing, hard to find information, many links are dead. You should fire whoever is "leading" this project, or rather misspend money for vendors who are friends of these talentless, useless marketing "execs". BTW. Windows 8 is a failure and it does not matter how you spin it.

21 Oct 2013 - Phil, We are very excited to see you in this role. We look forward to your leadership in driving a new partnership model between Microsoft and the channel. I look forward to working with you. Keith Groom Softchoice Corporation.

21 Oct 2013 - I am still not going to use Windows 8.

21 Oct 2013 - Great job Phil. Great open dialogue with your teams in Public Server, Devices and EDU has allowed us to pursue joint opportunities together. Working easily with your Azure team really helped us with an easy transition to switch all of our test and production servers over to Azure.

18 Oct 2013 - A nice touch, and Phil really gets his message across well. We work really closely with Microsoft globally, and this is one of the strongest gestures and thoughtful deliveries I've seen before. Good luck in the new role, Phil.

16 Oct 2013 - Hi Phil, Congratulations on your new role! I am not only new in my role as Director of Partner Programs with tekVizion but new to Microsoft as I have spent several years traveling primarily in the Cisco UC circles. Your introduction was timely as I’m eager to learn more about how to do business through and with Microsoft and happy to see that one of your goals is to make it easier for partners to engage and accomplish that objective. I'm looking forward to working with you and your team!

14 Oct 2013 - I thought this was an excellent example of leadership by Phil. Partners want to feel valued. Leaders cast vision and help others know where to go to be successful. As a Microsoft partner for 22 years we have seen lots of change. Microsoft & partners can do adapt to any change if we work together! Patrick Booth, President, CCB Inc./ www.ccbnonprofits.com

11 Oct 2013 - Great to get an introduction from Phil and for partners to understand global priorities for the partner group. Look forward to meeting you Phil at WPC 2014! Knowing this direction and focus at a higher level helps partners who are looking to align better with Microsoft maximise their investments. However, in our experience partners who understand the detail make better decisions about their priorities and activities and their own messaging and targeting. It would be great to get deeper detail as we move through the year on specific priority workloads and how Microsoft is doing on increasing market share in each area - if partners are made aware of the progress regularly they can take action and work more seamlessly with Microsoft.

08 Oct 2013 - Did our renewal last month, and have to admit that I didn't care much for the renewed interface. Once I got to the Membership Centre on the old interface, it was much better, found what I wanted and got it done easily.

Very frustrated trying to renew ...
08 Oct 2013 - I think he should get the partner site fixed - half the links are broken and links referred to in MS emails don't exist ...

what do you think?
